For just $40 USD per person (valid for 30 days), you’ll have the assurance of 24/7 emergency air evacuation coverage across East Africa—including Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi.

Whether it’s a snake bite in the Masai Mara or a medical flare-up in the Serengeti, the Flying Doctors team is only a phone call away. Depending on the situation, they can offer immediate medical advice, or dispatch a fully equipped medical aircraft to evacuate you to Nairobi’s top hospitals.
Even in more remote locations, like Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda, or while boating on Lake Tanganyika, the Flying Doctors are ready to step in. Their priority? Getting you the care you need—fast and efficiently.
What’s Covered – And What’s Not
Flying Doctors provides emergency medical evacuation and assistance only. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Hospital treatment costs, visa fees (if entering Kenya by air), and personal insurance are not included.
This service is not a substitute for travel or health insurance—it’s a complement to it.
AMREF Flying Doctors can, however, assist with urgent visa processing to streamline your transfer to a hospital.
Special Note for Kilimanjaro Climbers
If your journey takes you to the roof of Africa—Mount Kilimanjaro—Flying Doctors can arrange a helicopter evacuation in case of a life-threatening emergency. Evacuations typically land at a hospital in Moshi, depending on the weather, terrain, and weight limits.
⚠️ Please note: Mount Meru climbs are not covered by the Flying Doctors service. Ensure your travel insurance includes this type of evacuation if you plan to summit Mount Meru.
